Abhirami Venkatachalam aka Abhirami Iyer is a force to reckon with. She was just another aspiring young girl who had her eye on the shiny and scintillating media industry. She posed for the first time for C-bazar’s online photoshoots, one of the pioneers in Chennai E-com wing. Still a timid fledging, she preferred hiding her face infront of the camera since the taboo around “modelling” walked with its head held high back then.

When media bats her eyelashes at you, even a predator becomes a prey. The 12-year old Abhi did want to become a doctor, but the 21 year old Abhi wanted something else. After a long and steady wait from tapping the doors of television commercials, pageant shows, she threw those high heels aside and notched “salangai” onto her feet and explored Bharathnatyam at Kalakshetra.

When fate tests and tries you, you will end up knocking an imaginary door and hope for it to materialize a new world. She discovered yoga and volunteered under Isha for Unite-All-Rivers campaign. And yes, a life changing opportunity turned up. She bagged a lead role in Ajith’s Nerkonda Parvai. Little did she know that Bigg Boss ( not God guys, jeesh ) was eying her growth. Every newcomer’s dream “house” absorbed her. But sadly, this paparazzi could never mirror the real Abhi.

The house, its mates and the audience labeled her as an attention seeking, man-chaser. Though her soft nature peeked when her house mates spoke about their life and the struggles they encountered, Abhi just became one in a million viewers who felt the pang. When all is gone, you will still have your pals. Sadly, her very own friends plotted against her and it took a spectator to spot the wolves in sheep’s clothing. He willingly gave up the captaincy throne to secure Abhi for one more week. She deserves another chance, he said.

Still oblivious, naïve and innocent, she holds on tight to her friendship while the whole house watches this woman turn into a little girl who is oscillating between “good” and “bad”. She is quick to forgive, she is quick to forget, she is quick to fall in love and she is quick to fall out of it. An eccentric, loud, “Tamil Ponnu” who wears modernity in her sleeve, believes what is within is more important. When she stood up for the millions of women who carry culture, character against a grassroot thought about dressing, she won a million hearts in seconds.

As she is being sullied around by her own friends, you can find Abhi giving them warm cuddles every morning. Their paws slowly receded when Abhi became the favourite of 4 most-loved contestants in the house. This monster house turned a beast back into a beauty and it is only a matter of time before her chivalry enchants you.
