The one name that has rattled the Tamilians living all over the world.
Who is Oviya?
She was a small time actress who had played the lead in around 6-7 movies. Though the big screen is familiar to her, you might have missed this star passing you by, a month ago. She entered the camera-friendly house, made the colourful walls and flooring her friends, danced with her coffee mug every morning and man, did she win our hearts!

An underdog she was. Petite in her presence when the bigger stars towered over her with their stardom. She won crooked glances when she said a no and when they said a yes. Her first steps in the house were shaky and she chose her solitude over “Shakthi” worship. She struggled fitting in this group of diverse artists, maybe she felt small or big or just different.
We could see her spending time with Raiza, an upcoming model from Bangalore; Arav, a struggling actor from Trichy; Julie, the star of the Jallikattu protest in Chennai and Snehan, a young lyric-writer. Oviya was feeling restrained in the house with the chains she nailed around herself. Did she fear the weight of judgement? Was she an introvert? Was she lonely? Nothing stopped this young and strong girl from expressing herself during her daily tasks. Her blunt humour did make us smile. Then began her morning ritual; she greeted us with a childlike innocence and soulful moves that massacred Chennai. The viewers were slowly being charmed by her electric personality.

When her name came upon eviction, Oviya wore her cool hat with absolute confidence. As predicted, the magnanimous host, Kamal Haasan threw the truth that she had won the maximum number of votes and hearts. We could see Namitha giving up on this game instantly where she says, “Oviya will win this show. I don't wish to be a part of this house anymore”. Oviya was being ganged up and cornered on a sadistic scale since her popularity was unexpected. When Julie played the Jill by falling down and surviving a near-death experience ( gag ), Oviya swooned us again by standing shoulder to shoulder with her. Gayathri, Namitha and the "gratitude-free" Julie continued to bully Oviya and pinned her as the corrupted one.

Julie’s ruthless condemnation of Oviya and Kamal’s hand in saving her made the audience frenzy with Oviya fever. Fan clubs, public campaigns and hashtags to protect their favourite star, started spreading global. This is when Oviya falls in love with her friend and confidante, Arav.
Her radiance and brutal honesty made the housemates including Raiza and Snehan turn their back on her. She boldly survives the house with her will and witty comebacks. When Oviya walked up to become the uncrowned queen of Bigg Boss, Arav chooses to dump her; the repercussions that will make every brick of the house crumble to sand. Oviya did have a salt and sugar side to her, the happy & eccentric one and the love craving, erratic, damsel in distress.
Her tongue becomes razor sharp and her colour changes to chilli red with every nudge. It would be a lie if I claim that she never returned the favour back to her fellow housemates. The carefree Oviya slowly disappears and turns into a mere caricature of what she used to be.

Oviya took a brave decision and walked out of the house with her head held high, leaving thousands of her fans with tear stained eyes. What happens if she chooses to come back? Will she be thronged by the housemates who drowned in guilt when she left without saying a Goodbye? Will the audience accept her return with the same love? Will another contestant steal the glory in the meantime? We’ll never know. Dear Oviya, you’re a prodigy and we wish you all the happiness in the world.
